I loved you once: perhaps that love has yet To die down thoroughly within my soul; But let it not dismay you any longer; I have no wish to cause you any sorrow. I loved you wordlessly, without a hope, By shyness tortured, or by jealousy. I loved you with such tenderness and candor And pray God grants you to be loved that way again.

ReplyDeleteChildren of the Sun and the Wind
We still live
on the brink of nothingness,
between the north and south of the seasons
We still sleep
on stone pillows,
like our fathers
We still follow the same clouds,
resting in the shadows of thorn trees
We still drink down our tea while swallowing fire
and we walk barefoot not to frighten the silence
And in the distance
at the edge of the mirage
we still watch, every evening
the sun fall into the sea
And the same woman greets us
while she posts lookout for the dusk
in the middle of the map
She greets us, then is lost
in the eyes of a child
smiling from the lap of eternity
And we still wait
for a new dawn
We still wait to begin again

not losing to the rain
not losing to the wind
not losing to the snow nor to summer's heat
with a strong body
unfettered by desire
never losing temper
always quietly smiling
every day four bowls of brown rice
miso and some vegetables to eat
in everything
count yourself last and put others before you
watching and listening, and understanding
and never forgetting
in the shade of the woods of the pines of the fields
being in a little thatched hut
if there is a sick child to the east
going and nursing over them
if there is a tired mother to the west
going and shouldering her sheaf of rice
if there is someone near death to the south
going and saying there's no need to be afraid
if there is a quarrel or a lawsuit to the north
telling them to leave off with such waste
when there's drought, shedding tears of sympathy
when the summer's cold, wandering upset
called a nobody by everyone
without being praised
without being blamed
such a person
I want to become
kenji miyazawa

ReplyDeleteВолчица
English version:
Fog cleared, a ray of sunshine lit
On the slope of a lone wolf
In the forest wild beast howled invitingly
And the female immediately hurried
Hunters have a hot fire,
On the dispute throwing coins in the bag
Wolf as an arrow, was quick.
And manages to escape with the dawn
Flags and surrounded by mist.
Two predators, seeking, swept the snow.
And there was, it seemed that winter
Obstacles to their run
Moon River decorated,
Whose waters peacefully absorb animals?

ReplyDeleteIascaire is ea m’athair le ceart
Conas ná raibh a fhios againn cheana
agus diamhair na mara
chomh glé sin ina shúil?
Lá an adhlactha, iompraíonn sé
doircheacht mhoch na maidine
ar an trá sin a shíneann
ó dhoras an tséipéil
go dtí bruach an tsaoil.
Siúlann thar an slua
atá bailithe sa chlós,
a chois báite sa ghaineamh
gan cabhair a iarraidh
ó éinne dá chlann mhór mhac.
Ní thuigimid an fharraige fós,
dar leis, a cneastacht ná a racht.
Tá naomhóg an bhróin
bun os cionn ar a ghualainn
chomh dubh le fuil théachta,
an fharraige ag fiuchadh
le deora goirt
a loiscfeadh súil na gréine.
Scarann tonn na sochraide roimis
is cuireann sé a dheartháir
sa pholl atá tochailte
aige féin is an ngealaigh
ó aréir. Nuair a shiúlann
ón uaigh ar ais,
tá gile na dtonn
is uaigneas an domhain i ngleic
i súil ghlas mo shinsir.
My father is really a fisherman
How did we not know already,
when the deep mystery of the sea
shines so brightly in his eyes?
On the day of the burial, he carries
the early morning dark
on that beach that stretches
from the church door
to the edge of the world.
Walks past the crowd
that has gathered in the yard,
his feet sunk in sand,
asking no help
from any of his many sons.
We still don’t understand the sea,
he says, its kindness or its anger.
The naomhóg of sorrow
is upside down on his shoulders,
as black as clotted blood,
the ocean boiling
with salt tears
that would burn the eye of the sun.
The funeral-wave parts
and he buries his brother
in the hole
he dug up with the moon
the night before. When he walks
back from the grave,
the brightness of the sea
and the loneliness of the world
grapple in my father’s green eyes.

I loved you once... A.C.Pushkin
ReplyDeleteI loved you once: perhaps that love has yet
To die down thoroughly within my soul;
But let it not dismay you any longer;
I have no wish to cause you any sorrow.
I loved you wordlessly, without a hope,
By shyness tortured, or by jealousy.
I loved you with such tenderness and candor
And pray God grants you to be loved that way again.
В душе моей угасла не совсем;
Но пусть она вас больше не тревожит;
То робостью, то ревностью томим;
